From golf courses to nature reserves visits and water sports, there is hardly time to get bored in this amazing coastal village.
Take a different route to explore the island
There is a huge difference between visiting and exploring a place; the founders of ‘Explore nou zil – Electro Bike Discovery’ have understood that. With an electric bike as means of transport, sightseeing is combined here with respect for nature, which makes it a must-try. The activity is an engaging and refreshing approach compared to the traditional bus tours. It has been ranked first of the “13 things to do in Bel Ombre” list on the tripadvisor website and it is easy to understand why. The concept of taking the time to meet and greet Mauritians around the island and discovering Mauritian cuisine is another appealing point in its favour.
Heritage Nature Reserve, the place to be for nature lovers
Tired of the concrete jungle? The extraordinary stretches of green and the soothing sound of the waterfall in the Heritage Nature Reserve will surely revive you. You can move around this unaltered masterpiece of nature on a quad-bike or in a buggy. The stags freely running around might eventually stop to have a look at you. The friendly guides will be more than happy to take you through activities such as the safari and trekking safely.
Those in need of a date with nature can also go on a walk through the Bel Ombre Hiking Trail.
Golfers, read on!
Golfers might be particularly interested to know that Bel Ombre is home to the Heritage Golf Club, which has bagged the “Best Golf Course (Indian Ocean)” award for six consecutive years as well as many other ones. It is stated by many reviewers as having provided excellent golfing experience to them. It is worth noting that the golf course caters for both beginners and experienced players, with an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole ‘pitch & putt’.
Why not try kitesurfing while visiting Bel Ombre?
If you have always wanted to try kitesurfing, Bel Ombre is one of the best spots to begin. The public beach’s calm lagoon will allow you to feel safe and more confident while learning. The Mauritius Kitesurfing Centre is situated right there.
The ‘Musée du Coquillage’
Located at the Heritage Resort, Château de Bel Ombre, this amazing place has some 7,000 seashells displayed. Eric Lecourt can be proud of his collection which gathers 1,800 kinds of seashells from around the world. You cannot help but be amazed. Some interestingly-shaped shells will definitely grab your attention. The Murex pecten for instance, can easily be mistaken for a comb! While you cannot take the seashells home, you can visit the museum’s shop to purchase one as a souvenir.
